CUFA is an international aid organisation helping poor communities in the Asia-Pacific region by providing them with the skills, knowledge and resources to help people lift themselves out of poverty. CUFA has been working in the Asia-Pacific region since 1971 and has been supporting local families in Cambodia, Timor-Leste, Myanmar, Fiji, Bougainville, Papua New Guinea and across the Pacific. CUFA reaches more than four million people directly and indirectly each year - thanks to its generous supporters. All donations over $2 are tax deductible.

CUFA combats poverty by building and promoting the development of sustainable grassroots community-owned savings and loans cooperatives. We help local villagers who are too poor to qualify for a loan to start or expand a micro-business so they can help lift their families out of poverty, providing employment opportunities and retaining income within the village. CUFA also provides financial education to children teaching them on the merits of saving and encouraging them to develop good saving habits from a young age. Our other programs include livelihoods, education, employment, enterprise projects in countries across the Asia-Pacific region.

CUFA’s mission is to facilitate the development of economic capacity through education, employment and enterprise opportunities to build community self-reliance. Motivated by the vision for people to be free of poverty through economic development and self-determination we are passionate about providing people with all the necessary tools and knowledge to beat poverty and change their lives for better. The results that we achieve thanks to our supporters - children going to school, families having food on their tables, villagers earning their first profits – is why we do it.
